John Bagnasco has been an integral part of the gardening industry for more than 45 years. After working for many years at nurseries and garden centers in Michigan and California, Bagnasco joined Creative Promotions in October 2000 as a senior magazine editor and radio personality for Garden Compass. He is currently the president and co-host of the nationally syndicated Garden America Radio Show, which reaches 1.1 million listeners every weekend. He is also the president of www.GardenTube.com, a YouTube–type site for gardeners. Additionally, he is a managing partner in SuperNaturals Grafted Vegetables, LLC., has also taught horticulture classes, and is a rose breeder who introduced over a dozen new varieties. He was host of the DVD The Essential Guide to Roses. Baganasco's other books include Planting Designs for Cactus and Succulents and Plants for the Home Vol I.Bob Reidmuller is a lifelong, hands-on plant geek, beginning from a young age under the tutelage of his grandfather in New Jersey. A family relocation to southern California at the age of 16 offered a plethora of horticultural and botanical experiences and opportunities. As most other reviews state, this book has lots of nice photos and useful info. However, it is not as dense with info as I would like and had hoped for. In many cases, there is a 2 page spread for a single photo, and the photo subjects, while lovely, really don't need 2 pages to make any point that's helpful to me. I am waiting to find a book on succs that provides more advice for using them outdoors in the U.S. Southeast, where I live. I have my own proof that succs can flourish here when chosen and planted carefully, but this book mostly commented on Southwest and indoors. So I will gladly add it to my garden library, but am lukewarm about the contents.
This is an awesome book. It's very informative and has pictures so you know it's the right plant your working with. Wording is easy to understand and me and my teenagers are learning quite a bit about succulents and can't wait to expand our little collection into a huge one that will last this time. Would highly recommend this to anyone new to succulents and even long time growers. It's a great book to have around just in case.
Great book for any one interested in growing succulents. Great pictures and gives a list of succulents recommended for growing. I have been growing succulents for years, and this book even had information in it that I wasn't even aware of.
I love the images in here. It makes it easy to determine what you have, and what you want to buy. The descriptions are also very useful for knowing best care for each plant.
